Alcohol is a banned substance in the player's treatment program!
The Bucs' release of Darrell Russell came almost a month after he tested positive for alcohol.
Though as the Bucs had indicated Russell did not break any laws, alcohol is a banned substance in the player's treatment program, ESPN reported Thursday.
According to the NFL substance abuse policy, a positive test could result in another indefinite suspension. League spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment.
Thursday, a Bucs spokesman wouldn't confirm or deny that Russell had violated his treatment program.
